The city of Glendale boasts a plethora of modern state-of-the-art modern buildings, stadiums and arenas. Arena, (originally Glendale Arena at its conception in 2003) anchors a 223 acre complex called Westgate City Center, owned by the City of Glendale and contains sporting and entertainment venues to rival some of the biggest cities in the United States. Arena is home of the Phoenix Coyotes professional hockey team, and boasts two levels of unrestricted views, and 87 luxury suites as well as intimate bowl seating. The arena has hosted some of the biggest names in entertainment, the American Idol Live! Tour for several years, Street league Skateboarding tournaments, and will present the 2012 Kellogg’s Tour of Champions gymnastic venue this summer. In 2004 it was voted Pollstar Best New Concert Venue of the Year and the voices of Andrea Bocelli, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Van Halen and Paul McCartney, just to name a few, have been heard and enjoyed withing the walls.

South of the Westgate City Center is the University of Phoenix Stadium, the Arizona Cardinals home stadium which will host Super Bowl XLIX. It is a 63,400 seat facility that is the site of the annual Fiesta Bowl. With this much going on, sports enthusiasts find no lack of activities to please in Glendale.

Glendale, with a population of 226,000 people has around 75,000 households. 40% of those households contain young children under 18, and 53% of the households are populated by married couples. This family oriented town, with state-of-the-art sporting and entertainment facilities has an appeal for most everyone. 12% of households contain a single female head of household, and 21% are singles. Only 5% of the households include persons over the age of 65, probably due to the proximity of more senior prominent cities as Sun City and Sun City West.

For dog lovers, fitness buffs, and antique lovers and those who dig historical homes, Glendale offers something for them also. Foothills Park has a top of the line dog park, which separates the big ones from the little guys, and has a doggy obstacle course! Foothills Park also has a skateboarding area, and aquatic center, a fitness center and a branch of the Glendale Public library.

Sahuaro Ranch Park is a blast from the past with seven original buildings built in the 1890s on 16 acres of land. One can tour the main house and views exhibits and also enjoy rabbits, chickens and peacocks on this historic park that was once a citrus orchard.

The 2001 Sunset Magazine and the 1998 USA Today publication enforce Glendale’s boast that they are the “Antique Capital of Arizona.” Shopoholics can enjoy Arrowhead Towne Center , the northwest valley’s premier shopping destination with over 170 stores, shops and restaurants. Glendale is a pretty city; but it more than just that. It offers a beautiful, modern city with good schools, fine shopping, dining and plenty of other things to do.
